Our latest flagship is the new building of MAVO LAB Berlin on Kurfürstendamm, which will open in October 2022. Everything that is close to our hearts when it comes to sustainable living was integrated here.
Since the 1990s, the front building at Kurfürstendamm 210 has been used as an apartment building. The inner courtyard, which until now has mostly served as a parking area, will be brought to life by the new building and its already sealed surface will be used more intensively through additional development. With its wooden construction, the new building, which contains 23 flats as well as a lounge, office and shop area, sets the standard for the future as a pioneering project.
The MAVO LAB Berlin is a seven-storey wooden building and was constructed on the parking deck of our underground car park. We have turned the remaining space of the courtyard into a charming oasis of well-being that invites you to linger and turns the courtyard into an impressive, green area.
The building connects the new construction with a newly renovated old section. It was not constructed with classic steel, but consists of a resource-saving and unique wooden construction. A wooden building releases significantly less CO₂ during production than a conventional solid building made of concrete or brick. In addition to the lower emissions of CO₂ equivalents during the construction period due to production, transport and numerous necessary accompanying tasks, wood even binds CO₂ from the atmosphere during its time as a growing tree, which remains stored in the building material wood. Wood as a construction material thus has a doubly positive effect on the environment.
